Origin - The London Craft Fair

Luxurious hand woven scarves by Yuko Sato.
Made using striking multi coloured yarn with clear wires woven together give it a unique 'movement' after it's been felted.
This was her debut show at Origin The London Craft Fair after graduating Chelsea College of Art and Design.

'Over 22,000 people visited Origin: the London Craft Fair from the 6 to 18 October, 2009. The estimated sales total at the close of the fair was £1.5 million, with this figure expected to rise with post-show sales and commissions.'

'Fashion faces Erin O’Connor and Professor Jimmy Choo, design gurus Sir Terence Conran and Priscilla Carluccio, and media figures Lord Birt, Jon Snow and Janet Street-Porter all came to see the new and established craft talent on show at Origin'.

A suite of awards recognizing innovation, craftsmanship and quality were awarded to makers from a number of partner organisations. Winners of these awards were;

Association of Contemporary Jewellery (ACJ) Award for Jewellery
Andrew Lamb and Leah Miles

Crafts Magazine Best Contribution to the Show
Wycliffe Stutchbury in Week One and Annette Bugansky in Week Two

The Evening Standard Homes & Property Award for Best Domestic Product
Lucian Taylor in Week One and Louisa Taylor in Week Two

The UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) Award for Export
Leto & Ariadne with Timea Sido and Louisa Taylor in joint second place

Selvedge Magazine Excellence in Textiles Award
Carreéducker LLP in Week One and Sarah Tyssen in Week Two


Ysh London is a new web magazine covering Textiles, Fashion and Interiors in and around London town.
