Present a unique collaborative design competition for all design students!

YshLondon.com presents a design competition in association with real tea brand Teapigs, which launches today.

Teapigs are on a mission to get UK tea drinkers to "drink real tea" and YshLondon is on a mission to get you all designing!

The YshLondon team and tea brand Teapigs came together last year at our very successful Ysh London Ten exhibition. With their kind support, Teapigs and YshLondon.com have joined forces to offer readers the perfect combination of sitting down with a cup of real teapigs tea, and perusing the latest textiles, fashion and interiors news on yshlondon.com – what a combination!

The design competition :

The task in hand for all you budding designers out there, is to design a poster for teapigs real tea campaign. Over to our friends at Teapigs for the specifics :

1) The Teapigs real tea campaign :

Real tea = quality whole leaf tea, not the dusty stuff found in most of the nation's paper teabags. That's why our special tea temples contain only whole leaf teas, whole berries, whole herbs and whole flowers - no dust in sight! Louise the tea taster says... "Tea drinkers of the UK deserve better. Drink real tea."

2) To help spread the real tea mission and bring it to life, we'd like you to produce a design for a real tea print. The winning print will be displayed in cafes and delis that serve and sell teapigs real tea nationwide.

We'll also sell the winning print in the teapigs online gadget shop  where all profit will go to the Noel Orphanage in Gisenyi, Rwanda - that's where most of the tea our signature blend, english breakfast, comes from.

And if the design is successful as a poster, it could be used in a range of items (eg: tea towels, mugs) at a later stage.

Here’s the good part : one design will be chosen and one lucky winner will receive:
•    £100 cash
•    teapigs mug and the teapigs ultimate (1 of each of our 21 teas)
•    The winning design will be displayed in cafes and delis stocking teapigs and sold online at www.teapigs.co.uk . All profit from the sale of this print will be donated to the Noel Orphanage , Gisenyi, Rwanda, by teapigs.
•    The winning designer's name and biography - published on the teapigs blog
•    Free year's subscription to YshLondon.com (and if you're already subscribed, you'll get your next year's subscription free)
•    YshLondon.com will interview the winner in their magazine for an article that will include the winning design – a great CV enhancer for you budding designers!
•    YshLondon.com will be celebrating the winning design and designer on twitter, the teapigs and YshLondon blogs and facebook

Inspiration

•    your design should be inspired by the teapigs real tea campaign - show us your take on it through your design
•    Some handy pointers from the YshLondon team – real tea is the main focus of this campaign, so this could be translated through pattern, texture, collage, drawings, illustration or printed textiles – think outside of the box!

Have a look at the different types of tea on offer and perhaps use these as your starting point. And remember to keep checking YshLondon.com for more inspiration – there’s a handy image search function, and we regularly update exhibition, trade shows, and street photography – inspiration can come from anywhere!
