Not very long to go til London Fashion Week now...
So here at YshLondon towers, we are very excited to get daily updates and news about LFW and the off schedule shows.
And the good news is... you'll now be able to get front row tickets to all the exciting London Fashion Week shows from anywhere in the world.
Flabbergasted? So were we! The LFW 'Digital Schedule' is a new initiative announced by the British Fashion Council to allow people from all over the world to view live LFW catwalk shows and selected fashion films.
Digital Schedule (www.londonfashionweek.co.uk/digitalschedule) will launch on the first day of LFW - 19th Feb - and the fashion films on the Digital Schedule will be presented by the individual designers at the all-new Digital Space at the Somerset House.
We as YshLondon are fully supportive of the importance of digital media, so we feel very encouraged by this brave move. London Fashion Week is the first of the leading four global fashion weeks to fully embrace digital media into its twice yearly showcase.
Burberry men’s Autumn Winter 2010 collection in Milan, was similarly broadcast live to reach out to a wider audience. Fashion has become faster and faster, and even for exclusive luxury fashion labels, it seems there’s no exception.
It's very difficult to narrow down, but here's my top ten established catwalk designers that I simply cannot wait to see this coming season..
1) Peter Pilotto – for great cut, cool print and embellishment. Their collections have been growing strongly with dizzying rapidity, and they've successfully transformed themselves into one of the young contemporary British luxury fashion labels.
2) Mary Katrantzou - for her truly amazing digital prints. She is known for her trompe l'oeil digital prints from her Central Saint Martins graduate collection, and she has had a few seasons now at the BFC Tent at LFW.
3) Mark Fast - for his cobweb-like knit pieces. Fast is also raising awareness of using plus size models, and chose a great season for him to launch his diffusion line called ‘Faster’ after his great success at LFW. The YshLondon team adore his intricate knit for his innovative use of textiles at the forefront of fashion.
4) Bora Aksu - for his fairy tale and poetic, inspired collections, and in particular his chiffon dresses in faded and muted colours which are breathtakingly beautiful.
5) Charles Anastase – a French fashion designer and illustrator. He creates artistic yet romantic youthful collections that are favoured by fashion savvy celebrities such as Keira Knightley, Chloe Sevigny, Alexa Chung and Emma Watson to name but a few.
6) Louise Goldin - Winner of Fashion Forward sponsorship from the British Fashion Council. Last season’s collection featured ‘Bra cups as a top’ , which is set to be the trend for this spring and hit the high street shop floor soon.
7) Christopher Kane – we simply cannot begin to talk about LFW without mentioning the stardom that surrounds the London designer Christopher Kane. His collection is one of the most desired to see London.
8) Basso & Brooke - for their eclectic prints and striking colours. Their way of mixing prints and pattern are just stunning.
9) Burberry Prorsum – Designed by Christopher Bailey who took a British traditional fashion house to the next level by adding a modern twist and edge. Classic items such as trench coats, cashmere and wool jumpers are transformed into classic modern designs . Last season’s collection saw twisted and gathered details in candy colours.
10) Vivienne Westwood Red Label - as, after all, she's the queen of punk!!
A never changing fashion rebel who is a pioneer of British fashion, coupled with her use of Harris Tweed, and appreciation of traditional tailoring with a modern edge.
We just can't imagine London without Vivienne!
London Fashion Week is the place for young creative minds whether you are an aspiring fashion/textile student, young emerging designer or press who are looking for the next big thing. It’s the atmosphere of the LFW which makes us excited each season without the doubt!
