Over at YshLondon towers, we're saying a big 'thanks!' to Liberty of London, the world famous Tudor-styled department store which is making a sterling effort to put scarves firmly back in fashion. There's an exciting limited edition design range by Texprint/ComON textile design competition winners available at Liberty throughout February 2010.

This amazing collaboration was supported by Liberty and launched with Confindustria Como which is an organisation aiming to bring young designers and manufactures from the Como silk industry together.

Print design students from 24 leading art colleges and universities across the U.K, were challenged to design according to the concept; a celebration of Italian locations under the theme of "The Grand tour".

The Gold Award winner was Robyn Holmyard, of Birmingham City University, who had chosen the city of Sienna as a theme. The Silver Award went to Jayne Boyle, of Loughborough University, who featured the town of Bergamo in her final design work.

And the Bronze Award was given to Amanda Lewington, of Ravensbourne College of Design and Communication who had chosen the theme Capri.

The judges included Elena Alfani, director of accessories at Salvatore Ferragamo and buying director for Liberty of London, Ed Burstell.

“The introduction of a standalone room for scarves as part of our store-wide renaissance last year has seen a huge surge in their popularity. Customers of all ages are looking for interesting and original new designs and prints as well as different ways to wear them. The Texprint/ComON design competition was the perfect way for us to recognise new talent and promote it in store,” - Ed Burstell, Liberty's buying director.

To support the launch of the scarves, Liberty will be holding an event in the scarf room (Ground floor) on Saturday 30 January, 12-7pm during which time customers can meet the three designers and each scarf sold on the day will be accompanied by a unique piece of artwork by the relevant designer.
